The name I was given to read at a Gun Violence Prevention Rally at the White House this weekend.
Hi:
This weekend I cried. I cried in public. I cried in public while giving a speech about why I am part of the Gun Violence Prevention (GVP) movement.
And it felt good to cry.
It also felt good to connect with other people people on Saturday in front of the White House to call for common sense gun safety legislation. I was there with a new GVP group called A New Routine For America. Check them out. (Here are some photos and videos I took)
It was a good reminder that all the social media, email, and web activism in the world cannot surpass the single greatest thing anyone can do to get things done: Get out of your home and get out on the street. Meet people. Talk to people. Connect with people.
What I have for you:
- Is Twitter on life support? A good – short – piece on the future of twitter as a major player in news and social.
- Report: A must read new report on how important facebook and twitter are to influence elected officials.
- Video: Ben Carson shows the world how to take out a shooter. So so so funny.
