The Amazon Echo

Hi:

This week I’ve met another woman and I’ve fallen in love.

My Wife is OK with it. She loves her as well.

Introducing the Amazon Echo

From Amazon: The Amazon Echo “is designed around your voice. It’s always on—just ask for information, music, news, weather, and more. Echo begins working as soon as it detects the wake word. You can pick Alexa or Amazon as your wake word. Echo is also an expertly tuned speaker that can fill any room with immersive sound.”

NOTE: It is available for pre-order on Amazon. I ordered it in December but did not receive it until this past week.

From me

  • It just works: All I have to do is say “Alexa, play NPR” and BOOM my local NPR news is on.
  • It is helpful and useful: All I have to do is say “Alexa, set timer for 12 minutes” while I’m cooking and BOOM it is set.
  • It is helpful and funny: My son is having a blast asking “Alexa, tell me a funny joke.” She responds and she is funny!
  • It is integrated with other services: Like Pandora, IFFFT, and Google Calendar. All I have to say is “Alexa, play my Christmas Pandora playlist” and BOOM it is playing.

From a Business Perspective

  • Amazon has a further lock on my wallet. The Echo allows me to re-order items from my Amazon purchase history. For example, “Alexa, re-order the dog food from last week.” and BOOM Alexa does it.
  • Amazon has a delightful presence in my entire family’s life. It sits in the Kitchen and everyone loves it.

What do you think? Do you have one?

Best,
