Hi,

At the start of the semester, I polled my students (I teach internet marketing at George Mason University) on what is the first social media app they wake up to each morning.

Almost 100% of them said Snapchat.

Anyone who uses Snapchat on a daily basis understands what “stories” are. Unfortunately for me, I don’t use Snapchat much, so I never knew what people were talking about and why they were so important to the Snap experience.

That changed a few weeks ago when Facebook rolled out their versions of “stories” in both their main mobile app as well as the fb Messenger app.

I now get it.   And, I love it.

What are your thoughts on stories?   What organizations are you seeing use them in innovative ways?   Next week I’ll write about them!

Articles I’m sharing with you this week include:

  • How Stories Changed the Way I Think About Social Media (Buffer)
  • f8 2017 Recap from the Facebook developers conference
  • How Content Becomes Popular (Buzzsumo)
  • Why the Washington Post is getting rid of ad tech vendors
  • Videos:
    • My favorite ad of the year!
    • Fun Apple #EarthDay animated stories

  • Instagram business profiles
  • HOW TO: Instagram ads in stories
